Passenger port hits record in arrival of luxury yachts

These days, the largest number of  mega yachts has been recorded in the entire history of the port of Rijeka, with a total value of yachts reaching at least one billion Euros. There are currently 20 luxury mega yachts in the Rijeka passenger port. The Port of Rijeka Authority offers space and berths for mooring yachts with all the supporting infrastructure needed for electricity and water supply. There is almost no berth available, while the announced arrivals continue to grow.
Both in the Department for Commercial and Operational Affairs of the Port of Rijeka Authority and the maritime agency Simmor d.o.o.  one is particularly pleased that yacht owners have recognized Rijeka as a safe port of departure. More information about the yachts and the reasons for such a large number of berths can be found by  Andrija Simic, owner of the shipping agency Simmor Ltd.. He believes that Rijeka became safe haven due to countries such as Spain and Italy where the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic are being felt more strongly. He is convinced that this is an opportunity for Rijeka to present itself as a safe and desirable port throughout the year, and recognizes more benefits for local economy.
Rajko Jurman, Head of the Commercial and Operational Affairs Department of the Port of Rijeka Authority, thinks similarly. Given the full occupancy of berths that is present throughout the year, the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia has already launched an Economic Feasibility Study for the marina project in Porto Baros, while the tender for the selection of concessionaires is expected in the second half of 2020.
