PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Prague Pier extension project provides the prerequisites for a new traffic solution by effectively connecting the city and port roads in the Rijeka Basin with the state road DC 403. The new traffic solution includes the extension of Riva Street to the West, the construction of a road connection to Prague Pier and the connection to the new harbor road, which will provide direct access to the western exit to the Rijeka bypass via DC 403.

Another important component of the project is port warehouses 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22, which are located in the immediate vicinity of the Prague Pier, and are registered in the Register of Protected Cultural Properties of the Republic of Croatia. Warehouse 22 is included in the concession at the Zagreb Deep Sea container terminal, and the concessionaire will make it into its business headquarters in the coming period. After the completion of the expansion of the Prague Pier, the well-known Metropolis warehouse complex (port warehouses 18, 19, 20 and 21) is separated from the port area and becomes a publicly accessible industrial heritage free for conversion into various urban facilities. The Prague Pier extension project is of great importance for the development of the port area in the Rijeka Basin, but it is equally important for the citizens of Rijeka and the wider social community.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

  • Preparation of technical documentation for works on the extension of the Prague waterfront
  • Drafting of conceptual solutions and environmental impact studies with the outcome of a decision on the acceptability of the intervention for the environment
  • Implementation of geodetic and geotechnical investigation works
  • Drafting of preliminary and main projects and obtaining location and construction permits for the extension of the Prague pier in the port of Rijeka

PROJECT GOALS

  • Create technical documentation for works on the expansion of the Prague waterfront, which will contribute to the development of the basic infrastructure at the general cargo terminal in the Rijeka Basin.
