The Blue Economy Kvarner conference

    The Blue Economy Kvarner conference, organized by Novi list, was held today at the Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach & Spa Resort. The conference focused on the development of the blue economy and Croatia’s potential to strengthen its economic competitiveness through maritime activities, ports, transport corridors and related sectors.

    The conference raised key questions about the potential for Croatia to become a European distribution hub, with the Rijeka transport corridor serving as a key gateway. It also highlighted the blue economy as one of the key development models of the future, recognizing the sea, rivers, ports, logistics corridors, energy, sustainable tourism and water resource management as strategic drivers of Europe’s economic growth, resilience and competitiveness.

    The conference started with addresses by Tihana Tomičić, Acting Editor-in-Chief of Novi list; Zrinka Raguž, State Secretary at the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds; and Oleg Butković, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure.

    The first panel focused on strengthening the Rijeka transport corridor. Participants included Denis Vukorepa, Executive Director of the Port of Rijeka Authority; Dario Silić, Managing Director of Bina-Istra; Marko Mišković, Member of the Management Board of the Port of Rijeka; Darko Barišić, Member of the Management Board of HŽ Infrastruktura; and Teuta Duletić, Director of Lürssen Design Center Kvarner.
