Visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to the Republic of Croatia

The Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Wendy Dorman-Smith, paid an official visit to the Port of Rijeka Authority on 14 January 2026. During the meeting, the development direction of the Port of Rijeka and current infrastructure and investment projects that strengthen the competitiveness of the Rijeka transport route on the European and global logistics map were presented.
Special highlight was given to the activities at the new container terminal Rijeka Gateway and its connection with the Irish industry. The Liebherr Container Cranes factory located in Killarney, Ireland, delivered 15 RTG cranes and two RMG cranes, which are controlled remotely, thus achieving optimized and modern technological solution. The installation of this equipment has improved container handling to the highest level of efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Ambassador Dorman-Smith expressed satisfaction with the growing development of the Rijeka port area and confirmed interest in continuing activities that contribute to the further development of economic cooperation between Croatia and Ireland.
