Seatrade Cruise Med 2018

    The Port of Rijeka Authority, together with other Croatian port authorities, participates every two years at the specialized “Seatrade Cruise Med” cruise trade fair. This year, the exhibition was held since 19th-20th september in Lisbon, Portugal. Under the name “Croatian Cruise Ports”, within the joint MedCruise Pavilion, the Port Authority of Rijeka, Zadar, Šibenik, Split and Dubrovnik, the port authorities of Dubrovačko-neretvanska County, Dubrovnik and Vukovar presented their projects respectively.
    This year’s host was the Port of Lisbon, with the support of the Med Cruise Association and the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA), and the attendees welcomed the Portuguese Minister of the Sea Ana Paula Vitorino, the Portuguese State Secretary for Tourism Ana Mendes Godhino, President of the Med Cruise Association Airam Diaz Pastor and President Carnival UK and CLIA Europe David Dingle. The presence at this specialized fair is of great importance. The “Seatrade Cruise Med” fair is one of the largest fairs of this type in Europe, with more than 2700 participants from 105 countries, 160 exhibitors, 40 companies for cruise ships and over 10 000 visitors, with over 100 international media House.
    The fair is a destination for cruise ships supported by cities, tourist boards and government officials to enhance and exchange experiences from this vision of tourism and provide opportunities for communication and holding meetings with ship companies and potential partners about negotiating future details cooperation.Sajam offers exhibitors, participants and visitors the ability to obtain the necessary information directly from a business client; offers a comprehensive overview of technological innovations and new products, trends in the area of cruising industry and gains unlimited opportunities for interaction and communication with existing and future business partners
    Numerous conferences and meetings were held during the fair, where current sector data were exchanged and dialogue between shipowners, port authorities and destinations continued, with the aim of achieving jointly sustainable development, security and profitability. Deputy Mayor of Dubrovnik Mrs. Tepsic also participated in the fair, as part of the panel on “Making cruise tourism welcome: How to find the balance between the economic effect of cruise tourism and the viability of the destination”.
    The next “Seatrade Med” fair will take place in Malaga in 2020.
