Memoradum of Understanding with Port of Alexandria
Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković paid an official visit to Egypt, where he met with the country’s top leadership and took part in a Business Forum. Following a meeting of the two delegations, held in the presence of Prime Minister Plenković and Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, three bilateral agreements were signed, including a Cooperation Agreement between the Port of Alexandria and the Port of Rijeka Authority.
Prime Minister Plenković stressed that this represents an important step forward in strengthening economic cooperation and trade between the two countries, highlighting the strategic connection between the Suez Canal and the Port of Rijeka, one of the deepest ports in the northern Adriatic. The agreement further confirms Rijeka’s role as a key transport and logistics hub for Croatia and the wider region.
As part of the visit, an Executive Programme of Cultural Cooperation for the period 2025–2028 and a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of investments were also signed. The focus of the official visit is on enhancing economic relations, and the Prime Minister is accompanied in Egypt by representatives of around twenty Croatian companies.
Plenković said that Croatia and Egypt will continue to strengthen their political and economic ties, with a particular emphasis on transport, energy and investment, and reaffirmed Croatia’s support for the strategic partnership between the European Union and Egypt.
