National Conference on Greenersites

On January 18, 2019, the National Conference of the GreenerSites Project (Interreg Central Europe 2014/2020) was held in the hall of the Jadran Hotel in Rijeka, which provided a wide range of proposals for measures for the reconstruction of the former refinery area of ​​Mlaka. This location and solutions for its redevelopment were used for the pilot project of the Port Authority of Rijeka, contributing to the main project objectives of the Greenersites European project, approved by Interreg Central Europe 2014/2020.

Along with 11 partners from 5 Central European countries that work together, the Port Authority in its section deals with integrated Brownfield management, as well as the development and implementation of possible solutions. The main project impacts include tools, action plans, pilot actions and education, and to ensure that these effects and experiences are transferable beyond the project. The aim is to develop one common manual for the sustainable management of Brownfield areas.

Within the three major themes at the national conference, the spatial planning approach, rehabilitation studies / measures and future plans related to the area, as well as the connection with other projects were analyzed. Speakers presented their views on behalf of the relevant institutions and companies in this expertise: Stefan Kačuba, project manageron behalf of Rijeka Port of Rijeka Authority, Marina Smokvina on behalf of the Architecture Office Svebor Andrijević, Luka Traven presented the results of the Education Department of Public Health Primorsko -Groatian County (Nastavni Zavod za javno zdravstvo), Damir Zec, a professor at the Maritime Faculty in Rijeka, Helija Dokić from the company Ind-Eko and Suzana Belošević, Sonja Lukin and Ingrid Ivaković from the City of Rijeka.
