On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in Rijeka, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković handed over the Concession Agreement for the construction of the nautical tourism port Porto Baroš to the company ACI-GITONE Ltd. and introduced the future ACI Marina Rijeka.

In addition to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Butković,  there were other attendees to the ceremonial hand over of the Concession Contract and a tour of The Porto Baros; Deputy Prefect of Primorsko-Goranska Marina Medarić, the Mayor of the City of Rijeka Marko Filipović, the ExecutiveDirector of the Port Authority of Rijeka Denis Vukorepa and the Captain of the Port Harbour Master of Rijeka Darko Glažar.

The ceremony officially marked the beginning of the construction project of the future ACI marina Rijeka in the port of Porto Baroš, the largest investment in nautical tourism in the history of the Republic of Croatia, worth more than 50 million euros. The realization of this capital strategic project will be carried out by the company ACI-GITONE, which obtained a concession for 30 years for the maritime asset of almost 106 thousand square meters. The future ACI marina Rijeka, with around 230 berths and a multitude of facilities, will completely change the vision of the City of Rijeka, as well as the tourist offer of Kvarner and Croatia, and will be the most technologically advanced, not only in the Mediterranean, but potentially in the world.

“Of all the projects that we are currently implementing in Rijeka, from the Zagreb Deep Sea Terminal and the road that we will open this summer, the D403, the ACI marina project in Porto Baroš presents the peak of this entire cycle of investments in the city,” said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Butković, emphasizing that with the construction of the new ACI marina Rijeka, this central part of the city will become attractive and will lead Rijeka in the right direction. “The ACI Marina Rijeka construction project is changing the vision of Rijeka, returning the city Rijeka to the sea,” said Butković and added that this marina has been announced for a long time and has passed all the procedures. He also emphasized that it is extremely important that the project has the support of all stakeholders important for the realization of the project itself – from the City of Rijeka, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
