The port operates in accordance with the International ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code). The handling, supervision and inspection of dangerous substances is done according to the IMDG Code. With the new, modern Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS), the planning and building of the movement surveillance system (ID Cards), the integrated information system and the international supervision of the implementation of all the past and future works, the Port of Rijeka Authority guarantees high standards of safety and supervision that is proved by the Quality Systems Certificates ISO 9001:2008 for the ISO, SEC Code, the inspection service and the VTMS System.
The Electronic Data Interchange (EDI system) is an electronic system that in Croatia is implemented for the first time in the Port of Rijeka Authority. It is an electronic system enabling its users to have, based on international standards, an interconnection with all the subjects of the port’s (logistic) dealings, a timely integration into the European and world goods flows, a high level of reliability of the business processes as part of global logistic chains, the supervision and management of the physical, administrative and documentary flow of goods, the exchange of messages and information in a swift, safe, reliable and confidential way.
