customs administration
All customs administration works are pursued under Customs Directorate which is the head organization belonging to The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Croatia. Also, the Administration conducts the control of foreign goods, surveillance over domestic goods following the procedures of export or allocation in free zone or customs warehouse, and control over the products susceptible to special taxes. It conducts customs procedures and defines admitted customs proceedings or goods utilization. Some of the numerous duties are tasks of accounting, charge of customs, tax or excise and other duties during export, import or transit of goods; assessment of customs values, product origin and classification of goods into the tariffs nomenclature in accordance with the valid regulations and international agreements; customs control and verification of goods which are duty-free; prevention and detection of minor offence or criminal acts; cooperation in conducting foreign trade, foreign exchange, sanitary, phytosanitary, veterinary and other activities related to traffic of goods and people.
In the eyes of Customs Directorate of the Republic of Croatia, facilitating and accelerating of trade and transit imposes the commitment of neutral influence on economic and market trends. Contemporary Customs is necessarily becoming a key factor of safety and protection for the national economy. The strengths are orientated towards the accelerating of traffic with the simultaneous quality economy protection.
