The part of the Rijeka port destined for passenger ships, pleasure boats and cruise vessels is situated in the very centre of the city. At high season, a great number of pleasure boats – sailing boats enter the port Rijeka. They consider Rijeka a port of departure for their cruising tours along the Adriatic coast.
With regard to the passenger service, Rijeka benefits greatly from the fact that its passenger port is very close to the railway and bus station. The new modern passenger terminal was opened in 2009.
