REGULATIONS OF THE PORT OF RIJEKA AUTHORITY - PORT ORDER REGULATION

The permanent aim of the Port of Rijeka Authority is to ensure the safety of navigation in the local waters of Rijeka, to take care of the safety of ships as well as of the wharfs and of the port equipment and thus contribute to the preservation of the coast and of the marine environment.

In the bay of Rijeka, deeply retracted into the continent, lies the port of Rijeka with its terminals. The bay of Rijeka is a sensitive area for the maritime traffic, especially if we take into consideration the need to use the Vela vrata strait as the waterway between the bay and the open waters.

In the Port of Rijeka Authority we have recognized the need to draw a manual with the aim to encompass and address the issues of navigation safety, of the ships' stop off in the port, and the environmental protection, which with its content will help all the port's users as regards the procedures at arrivals or departures as well as during their stay in the port of Rijeka.

The manual comprises general information on the internal waters of the bay, the Port Order Regulations and the conditions of use of the port under the management of the Port of Rijeka Authority (except part of the basin of the port of Omišalj). The data from the manual does not exclude the application of other official publications concerning the maritime traffic safety, but is their supplement.

In the writing of this manual we have used the experience and the opinion of many experts to whom I extend my gratitude.

Mr. Bojan Hlača, Ph.D., manager of the Port of Rijeka Authority
